CAIP Facilities

 
Current Equipment  

The CAIP Center supports main computer facilities and networked machines in individual laboratories. Currently, our powerful computing hardware consists of:

 

High Performance Computing

  • Sun Microsystems Enterprise 12000,
    36 900 Mhz Ultrasparc IIIi processors, 108 GB RAM, close to 1/2 TB of RAID5 storage

  • Sun Microsystems Enterprise10000, :  128 CPUs, 512 MB per processor, and approximately 3/4 TB of disk storage

  • 16 Optiron Processor Sun v20Z Cluster

  • A Beowolf cluster in The Applied Software Systems Lab (TASSL): 64 Processor Pentium IVs , 128 Processor Pentium IVs

Additional Computational Facilities

  • Approx. 300 PC, Sun, SGI, and Apple workstations

  • Numerous machine vision and multimodal attachments, such as Datacube processors and Virtual Reality displays

  • Avid Xpress 2:1 nonlinear editing system

  • High speed 100 MB LAN with access to Internet and Internet 2
